CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –

The home of Cleveland serial killer Anthony Sowell has been condemned.

Cleveland inspectors had to go through legal red tape to be able to go in and inspect the Imperial Avenue property, and when they did, they found two dozen violations. Things like no running water, roaches and rodents and structural issues.

The home is now under the control of an estate in the name of Sowell’s deceased stepmother.

The city sent out the violation notice calling for repairs by October 2nd. If that doesn’t happen, the city will move towards demolition.

However, because of more red tape, it could be several more weeks until demolition crews are able to tear down the house.

51-year-old Sowell was sentenced to death row for the mass murder of eleven women between June 2007 and September 2009. The victims’ remains were found inside and outside of Sowell’s Imperial Avenue home.
