“When a kid learns how to fly, they learn discipline, they learn self-control, they learn time management,” Petgrave says. “They learn why all of this stuff their teachers are cramming down their throats is important. Math, history, communication skills.”

One of his young students, Tasneem Khatib, says that flying gives her the confidence that there is nothing she cannot do. “It’s a great experience,” Khatib says. “It makes me feel like I can do anything.”
