CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –

In light of the President’s travel to Louisiana to meet with local officials and view ongoing response and recovery efforts to Hurricane Isaac, President Obama will no longer travel to Cleveland on Monday, September 3.

President Obama was supposed to deliver remarks at The 11th Congressional District Community Caucus Labor Day Festival, where he was to be joined by Ohio Congresswoman Marcia Fudge.

After the announcement, Fudge released this statement, ”The devastation caused by Hurricane Isaac and the suffering of Americans in its path has led President Obama to make a late change in his travel plans for Monday, September 3rd.  As President of all the people, he is cancelling his stop in Cleveland and will instead  travel to where he is most needed, to offer comfort and direction to our fellow Americans affected by this natural disaster in their time of great need.  While we looked forward to President Obama’s presence and remarks in our district on Monday, we understand his decision to change course.  The 41st annual 11th Congressional District Community Caucus Parade and Festival will go on as planned and I look forward to seeing the people of Northeast Ohio come together to celebrate Labor Day.”

As of now, the President is still scheduled to go to Toledo on Monday.
