(WOIO) –

It’s a big day for Apple! The iPhone 5 hits store shelves in nine countries, including the U.S. and Canada.

Apple’s thinnest and fastest iPhone yet has already broken sales records. Preorders for the iPhone5 topped 2 million in just 24 hours, and analysts expect the company to sell between 5 and 8 million of the devices Friday alone.

The difference between the iPhone 4S and iPhone 5? The new phone will have a larger, but thinner screen, a smaller port, faster chip, improved battery and better camera.

Excited people lined up outside the Legacy Village Apple store in the predawn hours so they could be one of the first to get their hands on the new phone when the store opened.

“When you love technology, you will go to the limit for it,” said Emanuel Debose, who was first in line. “And that’s why I’m here.”

Debose was the first to get his new phone when the store opened at 8 a.m. sharp.

Experts warn some stores may have a supply shortage.
