CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –

Home HIV tests are expected to be available at stores in October. A quick swab of the mouth and 20 minutes later you’ll have an answer.

But will the results be reliable?

Dr. Ann Avery of MetroHealth Medical Center cautioned that people need to be prepared for whatever result they receive and not freak out if a test comes back positive.

If that happens, go get the result verified by a health care professional and follow the doctor or nurse’s advice, she said. Avery said people living longer with AIDS, but you should be careful not to catch the disease in the first place.
