A firestorm is brewing across the internets, as news is getting around about the disrespectful treatment of veteran radio show host Michael Baisden and his staff this past week. Apparently, they found themselves denied access to their studios! Yep! The Michael Baisden Show was cancelled and the staff was summarily locked out of the studio!

According to  HipHopNews24-7.com , there have been problems between Baisden and Cumulus Media (The company that has syndicated the show) for some time now. But to show that type of disregard for fans, affiliates and advertisers, something pretty deep must have taken place!

Fans took to the internets to start up petitions in order to get the show back on the air, but Michael Baisden himself put out this statement;

We were unable to reach an agreement with our syndication partner Cumulus Media. This was not a hostile situation, sometimes parties have different ideas and visions about how to move forward. So, there is no need for petitions and boycotts”

We’re not going to speak for Mr. Baisden, but that seems as though it could be translated into, “We don’t want to work with these people anymore so please don’t try to force their hands! That will only prolong our misery” or something along those lines!

Michael Baisden also commented on the situation from a slightly different angle a little later saying;

My only issue was that after 10 years of discussing important issues like domestic violence, missing children, leading civil rights marches like The Jena 6, campaigning for mentoring programs on a 70 city bus tour and donating 350,000 of my own money, helping to re-elect our President, and standing up to lead the rally for justice for Trayvon Martin, that I would at least be allowed to finish the show through next Friday. Now that is some Fragernackle bull!

And after all that he has meant to the community over the last 10 years, one would think that at the very least, he could have been permitted to say good bye in a dignified manner to both his listeners and his staff. At least then both sides could have walked away from it with their heads held up. Instead, he was locked out and a bunch of old episodes are being run in his absence.

But in the end, Michael is pleading for people to accept the outcome so that’s what needs to be done. Hopefully someone will pick him up and bring his brilliant staff along too. After all that they’ve put in to the commentary of the community over the last ten years, it just seems like brighter skies have to be ahead for them all. Here’s a few segments for the road. Check them out!
