Most folks may know Will Smith was originally pegged to play the role of vengeful slave Django in Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained, but he turned it down. The actor’s initial reasoning for declining was the good ole “scheduling conflict.”
Smith, however, recently revealed that he passed on the flick because: “Django wasn’t the lead, so it was like, I need to be the lead. The other character was the lead! I was like, ‘No, Quentin, please, I need to kill the bad guy!’”
Real talk or just jokes?
Django scored Oscar trophies for Best Supporting Actor and Best Original Screenplay at this year’s Academy Awards. And Big Willie thinks it’s well deserved. “I thought it was brilliant. Just not for me,” he said of the flick.
