Statistics shows youth are increasingly opting out of church, convinced of its irrelevance to their lives. Could parents be to blame? According to Bishop T.D. Jakes, pastor of The Potter’s House in Dallas, TX, mothers and fathers are not diligent enough about bringing their children to the house of the Lord.

“A lot of times we don’t really get excited about bringing our children to church until they’re in crisis,” he said during Sunday worship on June 24. “Then, when all hell breaks loose in the house, and they’re out of control, and you’re at your wits end, then you drag them into the service for a miracle.”

But the mega pastor who is gearing up for his August 29-31 MegaFest event in Dallas, which rolls several conferences–Woman Thou Art Loosed, ManPower, MegaKidz, and Mega Youth–into one, partly blamed parental apathy for this generation’s crisis of faith.
