Semone Adkins (pictured) and Trazjuan “Bubba” Hunter (pictured) are celebrating a regal win in more ways than one by becoming the first couple with Down Syndrome to be crowned homecoming king and queen at Florida’s West Orange High School, reports WFTV.
According to the Down Syndrome Association in Central Florida, Adkins and Hunter are the first students with the disorder to receive the prestigious honor in the state of Florida.
The couple made their grand entrance to the school’s festivities in high style; She arrived in a pricey black Mazerati roadster and he made an equally impressive splash as he cruised in on a red-hot Italian number, a Mazerati.
The two looked quite spiffy, as Adkins wore a Roman goddess-inspired gown, while Hunter looked dapper in his black tux. The teens, who are reportedly really popular amongst their peers at the school, were elected by the student body to hold the celebrated and highly-coveted spots.
Both Adkins and Hunter handled their roles with grace as they posed for the cameras. The youths donned their crowns and sashes as both of their parents looked on with emotion-filled anticipation and happiness.
“I am so happy,” Hunter’s mother Janice Morgan exclaimed. “Words cannot express what I am feeling right now. I am so proud of him. We love you guys.”
Karen McNeil, Adkin’s mother, enthused, “She is a beautiful girl. Not just outside but inside also.”
