With pavement striping operations planned on I-90, there will be some detours and lane closures Monday.

According to the Ohio Department of Transportation, crews will close the right lane of I-90 westbound between state Route 528 and Vrooman Road from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Also on Monday, the I-90 westbound exit ramp to Vrooman Road will be closed. Motorists will be detoured via I-90 westbound to state Route 44 to I-90 eastbound to Vrooman Road.

Once the striping is complete, the barriers along I-90 can be removed. That removal will take seven to 10 days and is weather permitting.

The work is part of safety upgrades on the stretch of highway that’s been the scene of several multi-car accidents in recent weeks.

On Christmas Eve, more than 50 cars and trucks were involved in a chain reaction crash. Two separate accidents happened the following Friday near the same area, resulting in more injuries and damage.
