They came looking to find the perfect dress, but also to help make a difference.

Hundreds of brides browsed and bought on Sunday at the Brides Against Breast Cancer charity sale at the Hyatt Regency inside Cleveland’s Old Arcade.

Molly Peyton shopped for her dress with her mom, who is a breast cancer survivor.

“I love what I see,” Molly said, “but there are so many choices, it’s a little overwhelming.”

Over 1,000 designer wedding gowns, all of them donated, were for sale, with some of them discounted up to 85 percent.

All of the proceeds go to help people battling cancer.

“The funds provide free services to cancer patients, and their family members, to insure that no one has to face cancer alone,” said Ashley Ritter, who coordinated the event.

Ethel Gould summed up the day well.

“If I’m going to buy a dress, why not buy it here, because the money goes to help the fight against breast cancer.”

Judging by the turnout, hundreds of brides agreed with her.
