CLEVELAND – Highway Patrol will be on high alert looking for suspected drunk drivers on St. Patrick’s Day. Last year, 142 arrests were made, but it was the first time no one died on Ohio roadways in five years.

“We want people to enjoy the celebration, but we encourage them to do so responsibly,” said Colonel Paul Pride.

The campaign this year is called, “Buzzed driving is Drunk Driving.” In 2013, about 500,000 people came to downtown Cleveland.

The public is being urged to use public transport. If you’re driving you’re urged to, “designate a sober driver,” Pride said.
