We had warm weather over the weekend and we also had a wave of violence. That violence touched the life of one of Cleveland’s City Council members.

A violent weekend in the Cleveland area, with crimes in neighborhoods across the city.

Five people were people shot and one was stabbed.

In one incident on Milverton Avenue, the victim was 26-year-old Sidney Reed, a cousin of Cleveland City Councilman Zack Reed.

“He’s now lying in a bed at Metro Health fighting for his life right now as you and I speak,” says Councilman Reed.

Reed told his personal story during Monday’s City Council meeting as he expressed his concern about violence in Cleveland.

“And they stabbed him three times.  They stabbed him three times,” said Reed.

One person was arrested in that attack.

There have been 23 homicides in Cleveland so far this year.
