Amare Stoudemire’s Brother Dies In Car Crash!

The older brother of New York Knick Amare Stoudemire, Hazell, died early this morning in a car accident in Florida.

According to TMZ, the crash happened on Route 27 in Lake Wales. Hazell Stoudemire was driving at a “high rate of speed,” according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Stoudemire rear ended a tractor trailer and died on impact. He was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident.

“Soul Train” creator Don Cornelius, 75, was found dead in his Sherman Oaks, CA home this morning from an apparent suicide! According to TMZ, his body was found at 4am PT with a gun shot wound to the head which they are deeming as a self inflicted wound.

Northerners often depict the South as backwards and racist. During the Civil Rights Movement, the South gave the North plenty of reasons to feel superiors. Snarling dogs, skin bruising water hoses and lynch mobs didn’t help the South’s image. The South’s racism was on full display as African Americans from Virginia to Alabama and beyond fought for equality. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. became the face of the movement.

In the South, King spearheaded efforts to integrate public spaces and he fought for voting rights. King, however, didn’t just fight racism in the South. He highlighted racism in the North as well. In one famous incident, King lead a fight to end housing segregation in Chicago — a mecca for blacks escaping the South. The march didn’t go well. In August 1966, King and his supporters marched in front of more than 4,000 angry white immigrants in southwest Chicago. The white mob called the 800 black marchers “cannibals,” and “savages” and stoned King.

He would later say, “I have seen demonstrations in the South, but have never seen anything so hostile and so hateful as I’ve seen here today.”

The incident showed that the South wasn’t the only bastion of racism that needed to change.

How can you edify (build, improve) your mate and thereby enhance his self-worth? By discovering–and doing–what pleases him.

If you are creative, pleasing your mate may be a natural part of your personality. But a less creative person may need some coaching in becoming a partner pleaser. And all of us need an occasional cue card to remind us to reach out. Here are a few ideas:

1. Write him a letter and send it to his office, or put a love note in his lunchbox or briefcase.

2. Prepare his favorite meal.

3. Arrange an evening out for just the two of you.

New York comedian, Patrice O’Neal, 41, passed away today after a long battle with diabetes and suffering a stroke. Radio Talk show host Opie of the Opie & Anthony Radio Show tweeted this morning, “Yes, it’s true that our pal Patrice O’Neal has passed away. The funniest and best thinker I’ve ever known PERIOD.”

The comedian’s health condition was made public by a group of his comedian friends on a Sirius satellite radio show. Details surrounding his death are scarce at his family’s wishes.
