Rev. Al Sharpton Eulogizes Etta James; Stevie & Christina Perform [VIDEO]

Music legend and idol Etta James was remembered by family, friends, and fans at a beautiful funeral service held at Greater Bethany Community Church City of Refuge in Gardena, Calif on Saturday.

James passed away on Jan. 20 at 73 years old after battling leukemia and dementia.

Among the celebrity guests who came to pay homage were the Rev. Al Sharpton, who eulogized the singer, Stevie Wonder, who performed with a church choir, and Christina Aguilera.

“Out of all the singers that I’ve ever heard, she was the one that cut right to my soul and spoke to me,” Aguilera said.

During the eulogy, Sharpton praised James for being the woman she was, beating a path for other singers and pushing through racial barriers through her music.

“She was able to get us on the same rhythms and humming the same ballads and understanding each other’s melodies way before we could even use the same hotels,” Sharpton proclaimed. He also applauded the Grammy-winner for overcoming poverty and drug addiction.

“At last, you can find peace now,” Sharpton concluded in his eulogy. “At last, you can get the gratitude of the savior now. Etta, you made it, you’re going home. At last! At last! At last!”

Stylist June Abrose has a new show coming to VH1, and Da Brat was a good sport, learning how to walk in high heels for a part of one episode.

AllHipHop.com received some exclusive pictures of Da Brat getting a makeover by famed celebrity stylist, June Ambrose. Here are some exclusive pictures of Ambrose’s new VH1 show, called “Styled By June”, where Da Brat learns how to walk in high heels and more.

“Though she’s not yet been fully “Styled by June,” rapper Da Brat took the first steps towards a new, more glammed-up image yesterday, when she hit the streets with Ambrose.

AllHipHop.com caught June out in the streets of New York teaching the Hip-Hop star a lesson in “Walking in Heels 101,” after picking up some challenging pumps from Guisseppe Zanotti on Madison Avenue. Rumor has it, Ambrose is working with Da Brat on a total rebranding and will have her making appearances soon that will featuring the platinum-selling artist rocking an incredible new style. Everyone knows the President of the United States gets perks, but this is hot! Spike Lee made sure Mr. Obama had the new Jordans a month early, and delivered in a customized wooden box with the presidential emblem engrained into it. You think we’ll see him sporting them any time soon?

Of course Barack Obama would get laced with a fresh pair of kicks. Spike Lee saw to it that Mr. President was outfitted with a pair of Jordan Spizikes courtesy of Michael Jordan himself, complete with a special wooden package that features the engrained Presidential seal and MJ’s number 23.

The sneakers are not one of a kind, though. They are the Bordeaux colorway, which will be available to most civilians, who don’t live in the White House, in February.

For the fifth consecutive year, the beautiful Gabrielle Union took to the stage and hosted this year’s BET Honors at the Warner Theater in Washington, DC, honoring extraordinary African Americans in music, literacy, film, arts and more. This year’s honorees included author/poet Dr. Maya Angelou, filmmaker Spike Lee, Stevie Wonder, track & field coach Beverly Kearney and The Tuskegee Airmen. Mariah Carey was also one of the night’s big honorees, accepting the Entertainer Award from her emotional husband, Nick Cannon. Nick gushed:

“It is truly, truly a blessing to be here tonight, and I am humbled and in awe of everyone’s presence, but mostly my hero right there. What most people don’t get the opportunity to experience is the true woman; the virtuous person who is my angel.”

Mariah Carey handpicked Kelly Rowland for her tribute which included a performance of ‘Fantasy, followed by ‘Hero’ performed by Patti Labelle. After the show, Mariah tweeted to Kelly:

Beyonce‘s new baby Blue Ivy Carter is the devil incarnate — this according to some heartless vandal who defaced the sign in front of a North Carolina church yesterday … writing, “Beyonce had her baby. Satan is on Earth.”

The pastor at Beulah Hill Baptist Church in West End, NC tells TMZ, he discovered the vandalism yesterday after receiving numerous complaints from locals — and removed it immediately.

The pastor insists, the church had nothing to do with the apocalyptic message … it was simply the victim in a random act of mischief.

Oh boy! Cops say 4 young friends from Pittsburgh posed for a camera, holding a bunch of stolen cash, candy and cigarettes from a store they robbed then they posted the photos on Facebook….just 1 hour later! LOL!

Cops charged two 14-year-olds and a 17-year-old in the drama and are looking for 18-year-old Isaiah Cutler, the owner of the Facebook page seen below.

Cops say the kids robbed the store of more than $8,000.

A grandmother of one teen grew concerned and contacted police, who solved the case with the help of the Facebook pictures.

A young father was arrested Tuesday after he posted a photo on Facebook of his 22-month-old daughter bound and gagged.

Andre Curry, from South Side, Chicago,was charged with aggravated domestic battery after police and state welfare officials opened an investigation into the picture, which had a caption saying: ‘This is wut happens when my baby hits me back.’

A friend of Curry’s insisted Curry was “being playful with his child; people play with their child differently.”

But another friend’s comment was of a different nature: “You goin’ to jail.” The girl appears to be leaning against a baby dressed in a snowsuit. Curry has removed the photo and has refused to comment to the media. Police said the probe is “ongoing.”
