ELYRIA, OH (WOIO) – Employees at Medical Office Buildings and hospitals in the area are being told to look out.
Authorities say there is a group of individuals on pick pocketing spree.
Cops say the thieves are working in groups.
For instance, one may be on an elevator, when the door opens, one of the males puts their hand or foot on the door holding it open for people to enter and exit the elevator. The man with his hand or foot on the door then starts yelling about their limb being stuck in the elevator door. The passengers are distracted while the other accomplice on the elevator attempts to pick a victims wallet.
The pickpocket team frequently works during peak visitor times, waiting for full elevators.
