TUSCARAWAS, Ohio – A Tuscarawas County Jail inmate who escaped Friday night has been captured by Sheriffs deputies.

The Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s office says 32-year-old Christopher Bair was captured by Deputy Jim Martin while on routine patrol around 11:30pm Saturday night.

Martin was traveling on Steel Road NW near Shook Auto Sales when he encountered Bair standing in the middle of the roadway. Bair was taken into custody without incident. He was then transported to Union Hospital for medical evaluation.

Bair was an inmate at the Tuscarawas County Jail after failing to appear in court. Bair was being transported to a mental health facility Friday night for evaluation when he allegedly assaulted a medic and escaped from the ambulance.
