Tyrese Gibson is having a great year with releasing his first book “How To Get Out of Your Own Way,” which is a best seller and starred in two blockbuster movies “Fast Five” and “Transformers 3.” He hit up Power 105.1′ “The Breakfast Club” Morning Show to talk about how he doesn’t like being labeled a relationship expert, if he embraces being a sexy symbol, his new album and more. He also speaks on his come back to music, saying: “It’s a lot of other R&B going on. No disrespect. A lot of people singing about sex and you don’t want to have sex to their music.”

On the pressures of being a sex symbol
I really don’t think about it. I think the worst thing you can do is wake up every morning and say “I’m sexy” and try to live up to that concept. I’m just about ‘doing me’ and if somebody thinks I’m sexy, I appreciate it but I’m not walking up the street like “I’m sexy.”
Do you think you’re setting yourself up for failure with the relationship expert thing?
I’m not a relationship expert where the hell did that come from? I’m not a relationship expert; I’m just a dude with an opinion. I got homies and homegirls that’s like everybody else who go through some stuff and they call you for advice.
On if men should be with more than one woman
If you’re in that space go ahead and get it out your system.
On polygamy
Well, if a man is going to move like that, then I don’t really think it needs a title. It’s just you moving around. The title polygamy is just like a concept of you moving around. Just ‘do you’ but my thing is if you’re going to move around like that, get your pimpin’ right and at least give the girls a heads up because I think the dipping off five-six women simultaneously making them all think they’re the only one, that’s when people get fired up at the end. But if your pimpin’ is right like “look, I’m just not in that space right now to be settling down focusing on one”, then you move around a little bit. At least you give them the heads up and allow them to make a choice and say “Nah, I’m not with it or I am.”
On his upcoming album, ‘Open Invitation’
That’s just it; it’s an open invitation like it’s been a minute since I did another album. I’ve been blessed to do these films but I think my music fans are real frustrated right now because it’s a lot of other R&B going on. No disrespect, I’m glad that they’ve been keeping it alive but I just think right now the spirit and the integrity of R&B just went in the wrong direction now. A lot of people singing about sex and you don’t want to have sex to their music. So anything that sounds close to good they gravitate towards it because that’s all they working with. So I’m gonna go ahead and come back. I don’t want to sell the most records; I want to sell my records. In the end, I’m not doing this for money anyway. My commitment is to the fans, they be tweeting, writing and emailing ‘when are you going to do another album’, so I’ve done it. I’m going to go on record and say I felt like a mad scientist going back in the studio and this is my best album to date. I call it “Bath Water Music.”
On people loving or hating his tweets
I’ve been known for shooting from the hip when it comes to live, relationships or whatever. I got my friends and we keep each other sharp. I’ve been through some stuff so I can tell folks what’s around the corner before they get there.
On if it’s hard being married in Hollywood
You know what I just think the timing is important and there was some other things behind my marriage I won’t speak on. It’s the timing of when you get married, it’s important because in the end, men will be men. We can find that main one we want to love and want to focus on but in the end if you ain’t got everything out of your system, your curiosity is going to lead to you moving around a little bit. I think the timing of when you get married is very important to add to your focus with being with just one.
