Nick Ashford, talented motown songwriter died Monday at the age of 69.  Nick and his wife Valerie Simpson were the hottest song writing duet in 60’s.  They produced many songs for Marvin Gaye and Tami Terrell such as “ain’t no mountain high enough” and “you’re all i need to get by”. Later on, they also wrote for Ray Charles, Diana Ross and Chaka Khan. The couple, who had been married since 1974 had been inducted into the Songwriters hall of fame in 2002 which was well deserved if you ask me.  They recorded eight albums for Warner Bros., including four that went gold, five with Capitol and two independently.  Nick had an amazing career filled with legendary collaborations.  Let us take some time to talk a walk down memory lane and listen to some of our favorite songs written by Ashford and Simpson.
