Oscar nominee Viola Davis is a tremendous actress who owns her roles on camera. But she’s taken up a new part on the stage of life with her husband Julius Tennon.
The couple welcomed home a baby girl named Genesis from a domestic adoption last month. And now a new mother, Davis is finding great purpose.
“It’s just given me purpose, you know? After a while your life can’t be about hair and make-up and what film you’re doing next and if you’re good or not and reviews,” the actress admitted to CNN.
As an older mom, Davis, 47, is especially grateful for her new role.
“It’s got to be about something bigger and larger, especially when half your life is already gone,” the 46-year-old actress shared. “And you look back and you think, ‘What are you leaving behind? What are the true joys of your life?’ And for me it was a child.”
This is the first child the couple has together since their marriage in 2003. Julius has 2 children from previous relationships.
