An extraordinary development has surfaced in the quest for a vaccine for HIV. The scientific community has finally had another chance to eradicate the virus from our world. Testing the vaccine on humans is a major advantage and advancement after so many families have been shaken by HIV.
According to the Huffington Post, Canadian researchers’ first round of tests or Phase I is purely for safety. They do not test humans in the first phase of any clinical trial for anything but safety. The SAV001 vaccine was developed under Dr. Chil-Yong Kang in his laboratory. The vaccine has shown a strong immune response in preliminary toxicology tests thus far.
Phase III of the clinical trials is the level where Kang and his team will begin to test the vaccine in a massive group of 6,000 “high-risk” volunteers.
