CONCORD TOWNSHIP, Ohio – The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is looking into why a vehicle hit a home in Concord Township.

It happened Saturday night on Ravenna Road. 21-year-old Ryan Spofford, of Newbury, crashed his 1997 Dodge pick-up truck into a home after losing control. Investigators said he first struck a traffic sign and several trees before going down a steep embankment and hitting the home.

Officials have determined that Mr. Stafford was talking on a cellphone at the time of the crash.

The resident of the home was in the house but was not injured. The siding of the home suffered slight damage, but further inspection will be done to determine if there is underlying damage.

Spofford was transported to Hillcrest Hospital for reported neck and back pain.

The crash remains under investigation.
