peanut butter recall that began at Trader Joe’s continues to expand.

The voluntary recall now includes more than 100 different types of peanut butter, as well as products using similar ingredients, such as almond butter and cashew butter.

Sunland, Inc. announced the voluntary recall after about 30 people reported getting sick with an outbreak of salmonella possibly linked to peanut butter. Four people have been hospitalized, and no deaths are reported. None of the cases are in Ohio.

The products in question were made between May 1 and Sept. 24 with best-by dates between May 1, 2013, and Sept. 24, 2013.

The Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are working to track down the source and contain any possible outbreak.

The recall began on Sunday for Trader Joe’s Valencia Creamy Salted Peanut Butter, but on Monday, authorities expanded the recall to dozens of other brands, including types of Heinen’s peanut butter.

Greater Cleveland supermarket chain, Heinen’s, have pulled their peanut butter products, but customers should check the jars they already have at home.

A complete list of all the affected products can be found at: sunlandinc.com/788/html/pdfs/SunlandRecall.pdf .
