Members of a local drum band are ecstatic about attending a special event this weekend.

The Pride of Glenville Marching Band is heading to Washington, D.C.

They’ll participate in a modern-day version of 1963′s March on Washington. Dr. Martin Luther King delivered his iconic “I Have a Dream Speech” during the march five decades ago.

The Pride of Glenville drum band was not only invited to march in the event, but they will actually lead the parade on Saturday, August 24.

The National Action Network and Al Sharpton invited the band to participate.

Church pastor, Dr. Andrew Clark said, “We’re excited about this opportunity of representing our city, and our community and the faith community.”

He promised that the drum band, also called the “friendliest drum line in Cleveland,” will send a positive message about job and educational opportunities that are being made available to African-Americans.
