Elections officials say a few more people showed up at the polls on Tuesday than first expected.

Cuyahoga County Elections Board Director Pat McDonald predicted on election night that somewhere around 30% of eligible voters cast ballots.

That number, slightly higher than McDonald had thought earlier, may be attributable in part to Tuesday’s moderate weather.

It is still far below a presidential election year, and even some other general election.

“There really were not the type of emotional issues on the ballot that tend to bring more people to the polls,” McDonald said.

Except for some minor glitches, McDonald said the election went smoothly.
