RTA says that all Rapids are running after a temporary shutdown due to flooding. RTA sent an alert adding that there was no more water in Tower City and regular service is scheduled.

An alert on RTA’s website Thursday showed all East Side trains stopped at East 55th Street, and buses transport riders between East 55th Street and Tower City.

An RTA spokesperson says the flood was caused by a frozen sprinkler line that burst near a waiting area on the platform.

The water rushed in, leaving more than a few inches of mess for crews to clean up late Thursday.

“We were concerned that there was going to be additional water coming in, so, as soon as it started to rise, we shut down our services and started to plan for the shuttle buses,” said Mary Shaffer.
