Two of the women who survived more than a decade of captivity in Cleveland will be among those recognized by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at an event next week.

Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight were freed last year from the home in Cleveland where they were held captive by Ariel Castro.

Berry and DeJesus, who were teens when they were kidnapped, are being honored by the organization for their “their courage and resilience and for giving hope to families still searching for their missing children.”

The center says Berry and DeJesus will attend the Hope Awards Dinner in Washington next Tuesday, the first anniversary of their escape.

The 53-year-old Castro pleaded guilty in August to hundreds of charges and committed suicide in prison.
