The Young Black Professionals Coalition (YBPC) in collaboration with DJ Mr. King and Huntington Bank gave away more than 500 book bags filled with school supplies at the 7th Annual “I Know I Can” Back 2 School Drive and Community Resource Fair, on Sunday August 24.

The event was held at Deon’s Grooming Lounge, located at 926 E. Tallmadge Ave. in Akron, will help prepare inner-city youth in the Akron area for the upcoming 2014-15 school year.

This year, not only are the book bags filled with school supplies, it also includes a hand written note to encourage students to continue to put forth their best effort.
In addition, young men were provided with free haircuts on behalf of Deon’s Grooming Lounge and other barbers in the Akron area.
Young ladies received free nail styling courtesy of local cosmetologists as well.
More than 50 area community resources ranging from utility and housing assistance to job placement and secondary education enrollment were recruited to participate in the four hour event.
