The Cleveland Browns scored early…and often during their 33-13 victory over the Chicago Bears in the preseason finale at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland on Thursday night.

Every one of the Browns’ lineups scored points in the victory, the team’s only win this preseason.

“It was good to see the guys get out, play and make some plays — some real good teaching moments still on tape for us,” Browns coach Mike Pettine said. “It was good experience. It was a risk-reward situation on the fact that we came out of it healthy, as I was told, it’s a real positive for us.”

Down by three after Bears kicker Robbie Gould capped off a seven-play game-opening drive, which was aided heavily by a 37-yard pass interference penalty on cornerback Leon McFadden, the Browns’ first-team offense quickly went to work.

Led by starting quarterback Brian Hoyer, the first-team offense marched 85 yards in 13 plays, and running back Ben Tate punctuated the scoring drive with a one-yard touchdown, and subsequent leap into the Dawg Pound to celebrate his first score of the preseason.

“It felt good,” Tate said of scoring the touchdown. “It’s a preseason game, so it really doesn’t count. At the same time, it felt good for the offense to finally get in a rhythm.
