Arianna Alexander

A high school graduate in Chicago’s Hyde Park won’t be applying for student loans come fall. Arianna Alexander received over $3 million in scholarships to 26 universities, six of them Ivy League, according to a report by ABC 7.

The valedictorian of Kenwood Academy had a 5.1 GPA on a 4.0 scale.

Alexander is the second student from the area to make headlines for scholarship grants. In 2009, a Kenwood student named Derrius Quarles earned over $1 million in scholarships.

“I feel like it means I can afford college and I don’t have to worry about it. I feel like that’s an issue for a lot of people my age,” Alexander told ABC 7.

Alexander will attend the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business this fall. She hopes to open four restaurants after she graduates.
