The federal government unveiled a website this week to provide the public with updates on its case against Dylann Roof, the man charged with murdering nine people at Emanuel AME Church and violating their civil rights.
The section on the U.S. Department of Justice website also gives links to resources for victims’ family members and survivors of the June 17 attack at the Calhoun Street church. U.S. Attorney Bill Nettles, the Justice Department’s top official in South Carolina, said the site was a way to help ease their suffering.
“It is our mission to be fully engaged in utilizing our resources to make the way forward for the victims’ families at least a little easier,” he said in a statement. “This website is one small, yet important service that we hope will allow us to relay information to the families in an attempt to make the legal and healing process easier and less intimidating.
