U.S. President Barack Obama (right) and French President Francois Hollande take part in a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the G7 Summit at the Schloss Elmau castle resort near Garmisch-Partenkirchen, in southern Germany on June 8, 2015.

OBAMA AND HOLLANDE MEET:

How things have changed.

When French President François Hollande visits the White House Tuesday, he will be the one who’s beating the drums of war, calling for a robust international coalition in the Middle East and declaring that France is in a state of emergency. He will be greeted by a U.S. president on a mission to avoid fresh and possibly interminable military conflicts in the war-devastated region.

A dozen years ago, it was a French President — Jacques Chirac — who was calling for restraint as George W. Bush was bristling for war with Saddam Hussein in Iraq following the September 11 attacks. And it was a French foreign minister who warned that Washington might win the war but lose the peace if it fractured Iraq.

DOROTHY’S DRESS FROM”THE WIZARD OF OZ” SELLS FOR 1.56 MILLION:

Dorothy, living on a Kansas farm in the 1930s, probably never would have imagined her dress traveling to Oz — let alone New York, where decades later it would be valued at over $1 million.

But the iconic blue gingham apron and shirt costume that Judy Garland wore as Dorothy in the 1939 classic “The Wizard of Oz” did just that Monday, selling for $1,565,000 at a New York auction.

5 PEOPLE SHOT NEAR JAMAR CLARK PROTEST:

Five people were wounded when gunfire erupted near a Minneapolis police precinct where demonstrators have been protesting the shooting death of Jamar Clark, police said.

All were hospitalized late Monday night with non-life threatening injuries. Police are searching for three white males suspects.

The shootings did not occur at the #Justice4Jamar protest, police spokesman John Elder said, but in “close proximity” to it.
