Kris Jenkins’ 3-pointer in the waning seconds of the NCAA championship game clinched Villanova’s status in college basketball history, as the Wildcats defeated North Carolina, 77-74.
After two blowouts in the semi-final games led the Wildcats and Tar Heels to face each other, the championship proved to be worthy battle for college basketball’s crown.
Jenkins’ buzzer beater, only seconds after North Carolina’s Marcus Paige brought the game to a tie with a dramatic 3-pointer of his own, cemented in stone Villanova’s second NCAA men’s basketball title.
“I think every shot is going in,” Jenkins said. “That one was no different.”
