Bastille Day Terror Attack Leaves Scores Dead In Nice:

The sun rose Friday morning on the Mediterranean city of Nice, and a city devastated by what appears to be the latest, horrifying terror attack on French soil. At least 84 have been reported dead after a truck careened through crowds on a seafront street, according to French media.

Hundreds, if not thousands, were out on the streets, celebrating Bastille Day, France’s answer to July 4th, with fireworks and a beachfront concert.

It was here, just after the last firework had fizzled out, that an apparent single driver in a large white truck first opened fire into the crowd before plowing through horrified tourists and residents who had packed the famous Promenade des Anglais, one of the city’s main thoroughfares.

Teen’s “White Boy Privilege” Slam Poetry Goes Viral:

A young boy takes the stage. In a shaky voice, he says, “My name is Royce. My poem is titled, ‘White Boy Privilege.’”

The video of the 14-year-old student’s slam poem at his school has gone viral in the midst of heated national discussions regarding race and privilege.

Performed at a slam poetry competition in May at The Paideia School in Atlanta, Royce Mann’s winning poem offers a reflection on the privilege he feels he has been automatically awarded as a result of his being white and male.

Cleveland Prepares For Republican National Convention

Republican Convention Speakers: Tebow, Ivanka Trump, Gingrich, Lt. Gen. Flynn:

The planned speakers at the Republican National Convention include Heisman-winning quarterback Tim Tebow, Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas and Peter Thiel, the billionaire Silicon Valley entrepreneur.

The roster of speakers starting Monday is a colorful mix of political leaders, entertainers, personalities and Donald Trump family members — in keeping with his campaign’s unorthodox style, first reported by The New York Times.

The convention released an official “partial list” Thursday, which did not include Tebow, though CNN confirmed his spot with a Trump adviser.

Each night of the four-night gathering in Cleveland will center on a different theme, the Times said, such as security, immigration and the economy — and could include presentations on controversial material such as former President Bill Clinton’s past infidelities.

Donald Trump has called Indiana Gov. Mike Pence and offered him the vice presidential slot on his ticket, CNN has learned. Pence has accepted.

The pick sets up a stark clash in styles: a brash presumptive nominee with a tendency to freelance into controversies alongside a cautious former congressional leader who’s stuck close to conservative orthodoxy since starting his career in talk radio.

Trump said Thursday evening he’s postponing the official announcement, previously set for Friday morning.
