Donald Trump Accepts Presidential Nomination:

Donald Trump conjured a dire picture Thursday of an America sliding deeper into poverty, violence and corruption and declared himself the only person who could avert disaster.

Accepting the Republican nomination in Cleveland, the billionaire twice pledged to be a “voice” for working Americans, restore law and order and to confound elites and doubters by winning the White House in November.

“Nobody knows the system better than me, which is why I alone can fix it,” Trump said. “My message is that things have to change — and they have to change right now.”
Trump, whose unpredictable campaign has broken every rule of politics, portrayed America as a broken nation that only he can fix.

NEW YORK, NY - JULY 19: Security stands in front of Fox News chairman Roger Ailes as he leaves the News Corp building, July 19, 2016 in New York City. Roger Ailes has resigned from Fox News amid sexual harassment allegations — an ignoble end to his legendary, controversial twenty-year tenure running the country’s dominant cable news channel.

Ailes’ departure is effective immediately. Rupert Murdoch, the 85-year-old patriarch of parent company 21st Century Fox, is now the channel’s chairman and acting CEO.

Ailes, 76, one of the most powerful men in the media business, was thought to be untouchable until two weeks ago, when ex-anchor Gretchen Carlson filed a lawsuit against him.

Within days, other women also came forward with similar accounts of harassment. Some of the allegations dated back to the 1960s; others were much more recent. Fox’s 9 p.m. host Megyn Kelly told investigators that Ailes harassed her a decade ago.

NBA To Move All-Star Game Over North Carolina Law:

The 2017 NBA All-Star Game will move from Charlotte, North Carolina, because of that state’s controversial transgender bathroom law, the league announced Thursday.

The league said it would make an announcement about where the February game would be played in the coming weeks.
The NBA also said it hopes to hold the 2019 game in Charlotte “provided there is an appropriate resolution to this matter.”

A Richmond woman who fought and beat breast cancer was overjoyed to find Lady Luck had a special gift for her.

Donna Boyd-Warren bought six Cash 5 tickets with the same play numbers: 6-13-15-33-34.

All six of the $0.25 tickets won $25,000, for a total of $150,000.

“I’m lucky,” said Boyd-Warren as she received her check from the Virginia Lottery.

Boyd-Warren is also a U.S. Army veteran. She served in Vietnam, her husband served in the Navy and her son is currently in the Air Force.
