Trump Prevails Over Clinton In Convention Speech Ratings Race:

Who won the convention ratings race, Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton?

Trump, by a margin of two million viewers, according to Nielsen, the TV ratings firm.

Clinton’s Thursday night acceptance speech at the DNC averaged 29.8 million viewers across ten broadcast and cable channels.

Trump’s speech at the RNC one week earlier averaged 32.2 million viewers across the same channels.

Nielsen’s totals did not include PBS. With the public broadcaster’s coverage added, Trump’s speech had 34.9 million viewers and Clinton had 33.8 million.

For Trump, the victory is even sweeter because while the first three nights of the Democratic convention out-rated the same nights of the Republican convention, his speech spurred more live viewership than Clinton’s on the fourth night.

Feds Probing Clinton Campaign Hacking:

The FBI and Justice Department are investigating a computer hack of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign in addition to its examination of intrusions of other Democratic Party organizations, two law enforcement officials said Friday.

The campaign said in a statement that its internal systems were not compromised.
“An analytics data program maintained by the DNC, and used by our campaign and a number of other entities, was accessed as part of the DNC hack,” said Clinton campaign spokesman Nick Merrill. “Our campaign computer system has been under review by outside cyber security experts. To date, they have found no evidence that our internal systems have been compromised.”

Rio Olympics: Is Brazil Ready For The 2016 Games?:

In just one week, the eyes of the world will be on Rio de Janeiro as the Olympic Games arrive in South America for the first time.

The buildup to Rio 2016 has been beset by political, economic and health crises, while doping has cast a shadow over sport and track and field in particular.
On August 5, organizers will hope to put all those various problems behind them when athletes from across the world march into the Maracana Stadium for the Opening Ceremony and the lighting of the Olympic cauldron.
Here’s how we stand as the countdown to the world’s biggest sporting event enters the home straight.

Sandy Hook Elementary To Reopen:

Sandy Hook Elementary will be filled with students again this August.

The rebuilt school bears no memories or resemblance of the old building that stood on the same property December 14, 2012. That was the day an armed man walked into the school and took the lives of 26 people — 20 of them children.
The only sense of familiarity some of the returning students will have is Shelley the turtle, who’s waiting for school to start in her brand new aquarium. Newtown First Selectman Pat Llodra says Shelley has been with Sandy Hook Elementary for over a decade.
“When students come in that front door, they’re going to see their turtle,” Llodra said. “Keeping something they love front and center … makes them feel much more comfortable.”
