Authorities have issued a statewide Amber Alert for a 1-year-old Akron boy.
Police say Darius Heard Jr. was taken by force by his non-custodial father from an apartment at 697 Callis Oval.
It happened at 1:45 a.m. Wednesday. The Amber Alert was issued at 5:20 a.m.
Darius is 2’ tall and weighs 34 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.
He was last seen wearing a red, white and blue Nautica polo shirt and a diaper.
The suspect’s name is 27-year-old Darius Rashaad Heard Sr. He’s described as 6’1” tall and weighs 195 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. Authorities say he was last seen wearing a black Nike jacket and grey shorts.
The vehicle involved is a silver Chevy Sonic, which is believed to be a later model with possible Texas plates. There is an Enterprise rental sticker on the front windshield of the driver’s side.
Anybody with information is asked to call 911 immediately.
