Do you desire to feel closer to your Father in heaven, but you’re not sure how to get there? Do you sometimes feel as though you’re not as connected to God as you once were, or have wanted to be? How, then, do you strengthen your relationship with God?

The answer lies in Empowering Everyday Women Ministries’ recommended reading.

Verses of the Day:

1 Thessalonians 5, verses 16, 17 and 18, which we will be reading in the English Standard Version. Now let’s jump right in:

1 Thessalonians 5:16- “Rejoice always.”

This sounds to many like an impossible task. How can someone rejoice always, when every occasion does not seem to allow rejoicing? Yes, some days the sun doesn’t shine—but we are not rejoicing in the natural sun. Our joy stems from the Son we carry in our heart, and His name is Jesus. We rejoice because we have been saved from our sins, due to His great love for us.

We rejoice because God is always good, even when our circumstances try to convince us otherwise. We rejoice because we have hope that the sorrows of this world will not last forever, and we can look forward to an eternal dwelling with our Father.

When you realize where your joy truly lies, you will find that “rejoicing always” is not such a hard feat to accomplish.
