Many storm victims have lost their belongings including clothes, shoes and many other items.

The American Red Cross in Cleveland and the Salvation Army said financial donations are the best way to help.

The Cleveland Red Cross has also sent 15 workers to Texas to help staff emergency shelters, but they have to wait for the storm to pass before they can go into the Houston area.

Jim McIntyre with the Cleveland Red Cross said there are two ways to make financial donations.

  • You can text to 90999 and it will automatically add a ten dollar charge to your cell phone to help flood victims.
  • You can call 1-800-Red Cross or go to redcross.org/NEO.
