Cleveland City Council voted Monday to rename a portion of Grovewood Avenue after the man murdered prior to a string of carjackings on Saturday, December 2.

Jared Plesec, 21, was found fatally shot in the head at Euclid Beach Villa apartments.

According to reports, the Salvation Army youth worker was on his way to volunteer at one of its red kettle donation sites when he was shot. His coworkers say he died in his Salvation Army uniform with a Bible in hand.

The street in front of the Salvation Army at 17625 Grovewood Avenue where Jared worked, will now serve as permanent reminder of his good works .

A date for a dedication ceremony has not yet been set.
