There are so many museums in the world where you can learn about so many different things. According to Chicago Business, Chicago will be getting the nation’s first gospel music museum. Recently, The National Museum of Gospel Music talked about spending $37.2 on the project. If everything goes as planned the museum will open in September of 2020.

Don Jackson, CEO of Central City Productions, talked about where it would be built, “I walked through the ruins, and it got me thinking about all the history on that spot.” He also mentioned, “Chicago will be missing out on such an important opportunity if it does not develop this museum, which will reestablish this city as the birthplace of gospel music,” The space where it will hold the museum is 45,000-square foot.

The 45,000-square-foot institution calls for exhibitions, an auditorium, a research library and event spaces. The gospel museum is projected to bring in $4 million a year from admission as well as other fees. Jackson believes it would bring at least 200,000 visitors there each year. He said, “For Chicago to only have the DuSable Museum, in terms of an African-American institution, it is really underserved.” The exciting part is that it would controlled by African-Americans.
