According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Cleveland Cavaliers have traded Isaiah Thomas, Channing Frye and their protected 2018 first-round pick to the Los Angeles Lakers for Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr.
Acquired by the Cavs as a part of the deal that sent Kyrie Irving to the Boston Celtics last summer, Thomas’ career in Cleveland lasted a mere 15 games. After recovering from a hip injury that kept him sidelined through the first three months of the season, the 2-time All-Star made his Cavs debut in January and proceeded to shoot a career-worst .361 from the field while averaging 14.7 points in 27.1 minutes per game.
In acquiring Nance — the son of former Cavs forward Larry Nance — and Clarkson, Cleveland adds youth to what was the oldest roster in the NBA. After trading their first-round pick as a part of the deal, the Cavs are now prohibited from dealing the Brooklyn Nets’ 2018 first-round pick, which they also acquired in the Irving trade.
