It was all about Monday!!!!
Marvel’s Black Panther has changed the game with its record breaking 4 day weekend numbers.

The Ryan Coogler directed Black Panther took out Star Wars: The Last Jedi as the second-best 4-day opening of all-time, after Disney released its Monday numbers.

The Chadwick Boseman lead movie has cleared around  $242M, right behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which grossed $288.07 million its opening weekend.

Monday also marked an all-time record for the film with $40.167M, beating Force Awakens‘ $40.11M (Dec. 21, 2015). It also posted the second best Sunday ever with $60.096 M behind Forces Awakens $60.5M.

This makes the Marvel film only the fifth movie to debut with over $200 million over its opening weekend, according to Deadline.

Considered Marvel’s boldest movie yet, the film left us inspired, motivated, and excited about the future of Black films and their power in Hollywood.
