Many are not happy with President Barack Obama enjoying his a few rounds of golf during his scheduled vacation in Martha’s Vinyard.

In a blistering editorial, Louisiana’s largest daily newspaper The Advocate is urging Mr. Obama to cut his vacation short and visit Louisiana.

A portion of the article says states:

“The president’s vacation is scheduled to wrap up on Sunday. But he should pack his bags now, and pay a call on communities who need to know that in a national catastrophe, they are not alone. The president’s presence is already late to this crisis, but it’s better late than never.”

Roland Martin told his panel of guests, “I don’t believe that the president should go to Batton Rouge yet, because the water hasn’t receded, but I do believe it is important for the president to make a public statement while being on vacation in Martha’s Vinyard.”

“We can’t ignore the reality of what’s happening in Louisiana and all too often when these instances happen that affect a large African American population you don’t necessarily have the same attention.”

NewsOne Now panelist Cleo Manago responded to Martin’s assessment of the situation and said, “Of course he should make some kind of public statement, but can’t a brother have a vacation?”

Martin quickly addressed Manago’s statement saying. “Yes he can, but the deal is when you’re the president these things happen.”

“Let’s just be honest if this was a White Republican president I believe we would probably have a different reaction if he made no public statement.”

Dr. Julianne Malveaxu explained while on vacation Mr. Obama is taking care of some business, but issuing a public statement “is the least he can do.”

Later, Martin expounded upon his reasoning for saying Pres. Obama should not to visit the region at this particular time.

Martin told his panel of guests, “He should not go because first of all, a presidential visit stops rescue efforts all across, but how hard is it to make a statement?”
