Demi Lovato has broken her silence following a drug overdose that landed her in the hospital for a week.

The singer released a statement on her social media accounts thanking God for keeping her alive and well. Lovato also thanked fans for their support, before sharing that she will seek extended treatment to get better.

“I want to thank God for keeping me alive and well.  To my fans, I am forever grateful for all of your love and support throughout this past week and beyond.  Your positive thoughts and prayers have helped me navigate through this difficult time,” Lovato wrote on her Instagram account.

“I now need time to heal and focus on my sobriety and road to recovery,” Lovato concluded. “The love you have all shown me will never be forgotten and I look forward to the day where I can say I came out on the other side.”

Lovato was hospitalized at the end of July after a reported drug overdose at her L.A. home.
