If you haven’t yet had a chance to check out the spectacular Asian Lantern Festival at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, you’re probably running out of excuses.

That’s because the zoo announced Sunday that the festival, which had been scheduled to end next weekend, will now run an extra two weeks through Labor Day, Sept. 3. In addition, a special night will be added on Saturday, Sept. 8, after a power outage last night caused the event to end early.

More than 70,000 guests have already come to enjoy the festival, and officials cited the high demand as the main reason for the extension.

“The response from guests has been overwhelmingly positive,” Cleveland Metroparks Chief Marketing Officer Kelly Manderfield said. “We couldn’t be more excited to expand the opportunity for more Northeast Ohioans and visitors to experience this one of a kind event.”
