“My parents raised me if you bless others without anything in return, you’ll be blessed,” said Yolanda Lewis.
This time Lewis is being a blessing to the elderly.
“I said you know what, I’m going to take my services to them and they’re going to get the same treatment that they would at a salon,” she said.
Every Tuesday she closes down her salon, ‘ Silky Strands Salon and Spa ‘ in Twinsburg, and she and her staff of eight stylists hit the road for no extra fee.
“They want to feel good about themselves and its hard for them to get to the salon,” said Lewis.
She says she got the idea a few years back before her grandmother passed away.
“My job, because she was bedridden, was to make sure that her hair stayed done and shampooed,” said Lewis.
