Phylicia Rashad

via FirstLadyB:

Phylicia Rashad is headed back to Broadway, but this time the Tony Award winning actress will be directing.

The former Cosby Show star is set to direct the Broadway premiere of “Blue,” producers announced Monday. The new staging of the Charles Randolph-Wright play, with music by Nona Hendryx, will run in spring 2020.

She starred in the show’s world-premiere run in 2000 in Washington, D.C.

“I am happy to be directing this play that brought me so much joy,” she said in a statement. “It affirms the importance of theater and its power to touch the human heart.”
