FOX has announced Empire will end after its sixth season. The Lee Daniels‘ drama famously starred Taraji P. Henson, Terrence Howard,Trai Byers, Jussie Smollett, Gabourey Sidibe, Serayah, Ta’Rhonda Jones and Bryshere Gray.
Unlike Daniels’ other series Star, which was canceled last week, the Lyons will get a proper send-off with 20 episodes. “We are turning the final season into a large TV event, we are trying to go out guns a blazing. You allow fans to lean in and have the ending they deserve,”said Fox Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier.
The series and its cast collectively have won over 10 awards, including several NAACP Image Awards.
