CLEVELAND – Cleveland Browns defensive back Gerard Lawson pleaded no contest Tuesday to a DUI charge stemming from an arrest 10 days ago in the Warehouse District, Fox 8 News reports.
As part of the deal, all other charges against Lawson were dropped. He had originally been charged with hit-skip as well.
Lawson, 25, was fined $500 and sentenced to one year of active probation, a three-day counseling weekend and 20 hours of community service to be served by the end of October. In addition, his driver’s license was suspended for six months and he is required to attend two MADD meetings a week.
According to Cleveland Police, Lawson struck a parked car on West 6th Street at approximately 11 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 7, and he did not stop. Cuyahoga County sheriff’s deputies, in the area transporting a prisoner, witnessed the incident, followed him and made the arrest.
